About
There’s an old myth that a vegan diet is equal to a life of deprivation. This website is here to debunk that myth and many other common misconceptions that surround veganism. Yes, we eat a healthy plant based diet with lots of whole grains, vegetables and fruits, but we like our junk food too (in moderation, of course). So this website is all about the junk food.
Ratings
Reviews usually have two ratings. One for taste and one for “Junk Quotient.” The lower the nutritional value, the higher the junk quotient rating. Anything that has calories but is completely devoid of nutritional value gets a 5 and kale, broccoli and apples get a 1. Maybe it should be the other way around, but since we use (vegan) ice cream cones instead of carrots, this is the system. So anything with a 5 rating should be considered an occasional treat and not a staple of your diet, assuming you like being healthy. Also note that the junk quotient is based on our assessment of provided nutritional information and ingredients and is not based on scientific tests of any kind.
SugarBear
SugarBear likes to eat healthy, but after swearing off every other vice, junk food remains a part of his diet. Before going vegan over 15 years ago, no dessert table was safe from SugarBear’s insatiable appetite. Now it’s only the vegan dessert tables that make the cut. Yes, salty junk food is also part of the diet and will receive plenty of coverage.
